Keywords: outdoor sunset field landscape sand serene Here's an awesome picture courtesy of the US Department of the Interior of a sunset along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. We've seen so many beautiful sunsets here with a variety of different reds and oranges, but I chose this sunset in particular because it had a distinctive yellow tint that I haven't seen here so far this summer. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile-long road the primarily runs along the Blue Ridge Mountains, a sub-range of the Appalachians. The Appalachians were once as tall as the Rockies, but they are almost 500 millions years old, and weathering and erosion over the years has reduced the mountain range to a fraction of its former height. Nevertheless, Appalachia is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S., especially in the autumn! This picture was taken on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Photo credit goes to Chris Mobley.
