Keywords: piano shoe pedal sustain cc0 darktable depth of field There are analogies between all forms of art and creative pursuits. On a piano, playing a long note requires holding down the keys on the keyboard or pressing the sustain pedal with one's foot. Taking a long exposure photo requires a combination of keeping the camera shutter open and holding the subject of the photo still (usually). In both photography and music experiments can be done to alter the effect of time on the result. On the piano, this can range for playing other notes while the original note continued to play. In photography this can be done by intentionally adding motion to parts of the subject. Some artists "push the envelope" by inserting objects into the piano or even moving the piano itself during the playing of notes. Similar things can be done to a camera during a long exposure. I have a ways to go before executing such experiments. Remarkably, I seem to have kept my foot rather still for this shot. I did not however play any notes.
