From a small batch of film negatives (ca 100) with a very distinctive format - the size is approximately 8cm x 8cm and has been identified as being characteristic of a Frena No. 1 camera. This, plus clues in various images, suggest they are rather earlier than I had originally thought - probably late 1890s or so. Our mystery photographer was a traveller - they are amateur 'snapshots' taken in Spain, the Netherlands and the Middle East.
