That didn't stop W.H. Foote, R. Blanchard, and Bert Skeels (accompanied by their plucky dog) from making the trip. This photograph shows the intrepid team in front of Central Garage on Park Street at the beginning of their journey. For five days, the men traveled over land, through heavy bush, and across streams and creeks to reach their destination. In addition to their provisions, these men carried with them several spare tires, shovels, pick axes, and other useful tools to help them along their journey. The hood of their 1911 Cadillac sported two pennants - one with "Fort William" written on it, the other "Port Arthur".
