This year’s event was September 24, 2016 at El Saucito Ranch. About 30 individuals, including a group from Taft Union High School were doing trail work, painting, invasive weed removal and clean-up of the area. A long-time volunteer, Craig Deutshe, author of “Another Place and Time”, which is an oral history book that describes the search for the people of the Carrizo Plain and their stories, attended the event. Craig provided all the attendees a great history lesson about the El Saucito Ranch, sharing stores he had collected from the oral histories he conducted. The Friends of the Carrizo Plain also provided all the attendees with a wonderful lunch. Photo by John T. Kelley, BLM.
