Keywords: blackandwhite monochrome outdoor vehicle black and white Standard station at NW corner of Georgia and Burrard Streets which stood from 1935 to 1970. The station design was typical for Standard Oil of the 1930s and conformed to the 'City Beautiful' aesthetic. This gas station structure was replaced by an updated Standard Oil, 2-winged gas station design circa-1960. This corner lot was previously the site of a large, 1886 "Blueblood Alley" house (residence of the CPR land commissioner J.M. Browning) which became a residential hotel called the Glencoe Lodge (1907-1931). The house became the Belfred Hotel in 1931 but was demolished in 1933. An RBC Financial Group building presently occupies the site now known as the Royal Centre complex (built 1971-72).
