Lanterman's Mill, Youngstown
This 97 foot burr truss covered bridge has several names. The most common is Gristmill bercause there is a grist mill just down river. The other names are the Canyon, The Scott Bridge and the Alden Bryan Bridge. You should call the Jeff Town Clerk. The Bridge is built over the Brewster River and is just off Rt 108. No one knows for sure when it was built, but 1870 is a good guess. The bridge was rehabed in 2004.

This old time covered bridge still stands over the Saco River. The roof covers the wooden roadbed protecting the crossing from the harsh winter snow fall and intense spring rains. As the age proves it was a costly but effective means to build a crossing in the late 1800's.
