Belfast, Northern Ireland. 26/07/2014 - A Royal Navy sailor stands at the prow of a Pacific 28 RIB as it approaches HMS Duncan in the Irish Sea at the mouth to Belfast Lough.  Duncan had been on a six-month tour where it partook in exercises in the Mediterranean Sea with other NATO forces and helped in a number of patrols monitoring for illegal immigrant crossing.  She then sailed to the far east, where she spent a number of months with the Australian, New Zealand and Japanese Navies in exercises and patrols.  Duncan's home city is Belfast, and on this visit, all crew were granted 4 days shore leave in the city.

Elephant Island is world-renowned because it was the temporary home of Ernest Shackleton's fateful Endurance crew. Point Wild was named for Frank Wild, leader of the party from Shackleton's shipwrecked expedition which camped and managed to survive on the point for four and a half months until they were rescued on 30 August 1916.
