This captivating image highlights the distinctive chevrons adorning the exhaust nozzle of a Boeing 787 GEnx engine, showcasing innovative technology aimed at reducing noise and improving fuel efficiency.\n\nThe chevron design, pioneered by Boeing and incorporated into the GEnx engine, represents a significant advancement in aircraft engine technology. By carefully shaping the edges of the exhaust nozzle, chevrons help to disrupt the airflow and reduce the noise generated during takeoff and landing. Additionally, this aerodynamic feature contributes to enhanced fuel efficiency, making the Boeing 787 Dreamliner one of the most environmentally friendly aircraft in the sky.

Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany: the engines on a Boeing 737 have a unique shape due to the aircraft’s low ground clearance and the need for larger, fuel-efficient high-bypass turbofan engines. To fit these larger engines, the nacelles have a flattened bottom, giving them an oval or squashed appearance. This design ensures adequate clearance from the ground while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency. Additionally, the engines are mounted on pylons that position them slightly forward and lower relative to the wings, optimizing airflow and balance. This forward placement, combined with the streamlined nacelles, enhances performance and fuel efficiency while maintaining the 737's compact design - Lufthansa Boeing 737 - Frankfurt Main Airport.

An old cargo transport aircraft, the moss, staining, and streaks of dirt down its hull made some very interesting patterns. \n\nThe aircraft obviously had some military usage in its history, whether it carried troops, supplies, vehicles, or a combination of everything I don't know. The proboscis on the nose of the aircraft is for refuelling midflight, so it could fly extreme distances so long as tanker aircraft were available to refuel from.\n\nIt is a monolithic piece of engineering, and only standing on the floor under its wingspan do you get a real impression of how big these cargo planes now are, they're a feat of design and engineering, even when obsolete and left abandoned outdoors.
