A Female Harpy Eagle is seen in a nest with a chick. This large raptor bird is very rare and shy. It is endangered. The chick is large but not fully grown. In this photo, both birds can be seen in the nest. The adult female is flying back into the nest with a branch in her claws. The Harpy Eagle has the largest claws of all birds in the world. It is also the only Eagle that doesn't soar, due to its short wingspan.

The adult black-collared hawk has a more or less white head, tinged with buff, and with black shaft streaks on the crown. The body, above and below, and the mantle are bright cinnamon-rufous, paler on the chest. There is a black crescent on the upper breast. Immatures are similar, but blotched with black, including on the crown, and the rufous barring on the tail is more extensive. The pale area on the chest is also more clearly marked.

The augur buzzard (Buteo augur) is a fairly large African bird of prey. This species is distinct in typical adult plumage for its blackish back, whitish underside and orange-red tail, while juvenile augur buzzards are generally rather brown in colour; however a dark morph is known, which causes the bird's entire body to become darker. This member of the Buteo genus is distributed in several parts of the central and southern Africa, normally being found from Ethiopia to southern Angola and central Namibia. It is resident and non-migratory throughout its range. This is a species of mountains (most typically at about 2,000 m (6,600 ft) altitude, but up to 5,000 m (16,000 ft)), and adjacent savannah and grassland. This is a typical buteonine raptor, being a generalist predator which tends to prefer small mammals supplemented by reptiles and birds among various prey items.[

Portrait of a female red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) on the ground in winter, searching for food. In 4:3 format. The feathers on a red-tailed hawk’s upper leg can be hard to see. They’re obvious here because the hawk was walking. Note the bare lower leg. The rough-legged hawk, in contrast, is feathered all the way to the toes. Most owls also have fully feathered legs. The bushier a bird of prey’s leg feathers, the more powerful it seems. Female redtails can be distinguished from males by their larger size.
