(Zonotrichia leucophrys) The White-crowned Sparrow comes in two varieties with the same species name.  The Pacific, White-crowned sparrow has a yellow bill and dull white stripes on the head which is pictured here.  The other is the West Taiga, White-crowned sparrow which has bright head stripes and a pinkish bill.  They can be found everywhere in North America.

White - crowned sparrow on a tree. With leaves and tree branches. Adults are 18 cm (7 in) long and have black and white stripes on their head, a gray face, brown streaked upper parts and a long tail. The wings are brown with bars and the underparts are gray. Their bill is pink or yellow. They are similar in appearance to the white-throated sparrow but do not have the white throat markings.
