Robust tall, almost hairless perennial, to 2m; stems hollow, ridged, generally winged with purple. Flowers white or pinkish, 2mm, in umbels 3-15cm across, with numerous rays; bracts few and soon falling, or absent. Fruit oval, (with 3 outstanding ridges) 4-5mm, with membranous wings.
