The St. Martin's Cathedral, or Dom Church (Dutch: Domkerk) is the cathedral of the Diocese of Utrecht during the Middle Ages. Once the Netherlands' largest church, dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, it is one of the country's two pre-Reformation cathedrals. It has been a Protestant church since 1580. In 1674 the central portion of the cathedral with the nave collapsed in a storm, a tornado ripped through Utrecht causing many to die and split the cathedral in two. It has never been rebuilt, leaving the tower now isolated from the east end.

Nuenen. This church is world famous because Vincent van Gogh made a painting of it showing believers while leaving the church. This is one of the paintings he made during his temporary stay in Nuenen where his father was a pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church. This lovely situated church amid lush greenery of trees and shrubs is still there and in good condition and that is why I took this picture. Nowadays it no longer functions as a church but as a place for weddings, concerts, expositions, memorial services etcetera.
