Tender mallow (Malvaceae, Alcea Rosea, common hollyhock) flowers in a summer garden.
Althaea rosea (Alcea rosea), commonly called hollyhock, belongs to Malvaceae family and is considered as a biennial or short-lived perennial. It has single flowers of various colors that grow along a spike. The colors of the flower include red, dark red, pink, orange, white, purple and yellow. It blooms in summer and early fall (July-September).

Tall, soft gray-wooly, tufted perennial to 2m. Leaves triangular-oval in outline, toothed, mostly slightly 3-5 lobed. Flowers pale lilac-pink, 25-40mm, solitary or in clusters forming leafy racemes or panicles, anthers purplish-red; epicalyx segments 8-9 linear-lanceolate, velvety like the sepals and leaves. Mericarps hairy.\nHabitat: Upper parts of Salt Marshes, brackish marshes, ditches and stream margins, close to the sea generally and at low attitudes.\nFlowering Season: August-September.\nDistribution: Britain, Belgium, France, Holland, Denmark and Germany.\nEdible marsh-mallow was originally prepared from mucilage obtained from the roots and the plant was formerly used as an ingredient of soothing ointments. Occasionally cultivated today. \n\nThis Picture was made in an Ornamental Garden, during a Vacation in Ireland in the Summer of 2022.

Hibiscus mutabilis, also known as Cotton rosemallow, Confederate rose and Dixie rosemallow, is a large shrub or multi-stemmed tree in the Malvaceae family. It is a perennial, flowering plant, blooming from mid-summer to autumn. The flowers can be single or double with several color forms such as pink, white and red, including a species which opens white in the morning and change to deep red in the evening.

Native to East Asia, Hibiscus syriacus is a species of flowering plant, which is a vigorous, upright, case-shaped, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub. Its showy, 5-petaled flowers appear from early summer to autumn, comparatively long period. The flower comes in such colors as pink, purple and white, each flower having a prominent and showy center staminal column. Its common names include Rose of Sharon, shrub althea, rose mallow and St. Joseph’s rod.
