Post-breeding flocks, sometimes of enormous size, forage on fields, in gardens, on cherry trees, on shoreline seaweed, etc.\nIn the Netherlands largely resident, but massive influx from N and NE Europe during Aug-March, some roosting in urban sites.\n\nThis is a very common Breeder in the Netherlands. In Winter there are large Flocks to be seen, which gives a spectacular view in the Sky.

The flower is Abelia × grandiflora, which is a cross between A. chinensis and A. uniflora. It is a rounded, spreading, multi-stemmed shrub in the honeysuckle family. The plant features clusters of white to pink, bell-shaped flowers which appear in the upper leaf axils and stem ends over a long period from late spring to autumn. Flowers are fragrant.
