Bridgetown, Barbados: the Montefiore Fountain is a historic monument gifted to the city by Jewish businessman John Montefiore in 1865. Originally intended as a drinking fountain, it was dedicated in memory of his father, John Castello Montefiore, who died of cholera in 1854. This neo-Gothic cast iron structure, adorned with marble statues symbolizing virtues like Justice and Temperance, was initially placed in Beckwith Place but moved to Coleridge Street in 1940. The fountain is a testament to Bridgetown’s rich heritage and is part of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage status.

Bridgetown, Barbados: the Main Guardhouse at the Garrison in Bridgetown, Barbados, is a prominent historic building that once served as the central command post for the British military during the colonial period. Built in the early 1800s, it features classical Georgian architecture, with a notable clock tower. The Guardhouse was a key part of the Garrison, which was the largest in the British colonies, and played a crucial role in coordinating military activities on the island.
