Vernon, Connecticut, USA - March 29, 2011: The 1948 US postage stamp commemorating the sacrifice of four chaplains during World War II. There were not enough life jackets aboard, and the four chaplains of different faiths did not take life jackets, allowing others to survive. The event occurred on February 3, 1943. The ship sunk by a U-boat was the Dorchester, a troop transport ship.
