Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA: United States Air Force Academy / USAFA - Republic F-105 Thunderchief on static display on the Northeast corner of the terrazzo. The Republic F-105 Thunderchief (also known as the Thud) is a US-made single-engine supersonic fighter-bomber aircraft that saw service during the Cold War and Vietnam War. It belonged to the so-called Century series (F-100 to F-110).
This P-40E Warhawk, also known as a Kittyhawk, wears the U.S. national military insignia of the star inside a blue circle which was superseded on 15 May 1942.   The photo shows a quarter rear profile view of the aircraft in olive drab paint and red spinner, parked with blue sky and clouds behind.  The aircraft wears the shark teeth nose art made famous by the Flying Tigers of the American Volunteer Group (AVG) during WWII.
