Many Pre Contact species of the Mojave Desert explode into life after Winter with sufficient precipitation fades under the warmth of Spring. One such prolific contender is a small wildflower with yellow blossoms known to botany as Malacothrix Glabrata and commonly as Desert Dandelion. Here, in the margins of 29 Palms, they can be visualized. Indigenous organisms are observable in the area because the original biome has only been partially replaced with modern development. Long may it remain a habitat for native ecology.
Chylismia claviformis is a species of wildflower known as browneyes or brown-eyed primrose and is found in Death Valley National Park, California. Onagraceae.

Two specimens of the endemic Cruckshanksia montiana (which has no English or local Spanish name) growing in coastal sand-dunes in the southern Atacama Desert region of Chile. Confined to Chile, this species can exist with very little water although, in years when the desert receives rain, Cruckshanksia will comprise some of the ‘flowering desert’ flora that happens particularly when there is an El Niño warming of the nearshore Pacific Ocean. This species has vivid yellow flowers surrounded by larger, equally yellow sepals, presumably to attract pollinators, while the regular green leaves grow close to the sand.

The Rocky Mountain Zinnia (Zinnia grandiflora), sometimes called prairie zinnia or wild zinnia, is a perennial that grows 4-8 inches high in small mounds and slowly spreads to become a groundcover. From mid-summer until fall it has bright yellow flowers that cover the plants. Wild zinnias grow in hot sunny spots on rugged terrain with well-drained soil. They are a north and central American native growing in the Southwest and on down to Central America. These Rocky Mountain Zinnias were photographed at Homolovi State Park near Winslow, Arizona, USA.
Golden Sun Cup, Yellow Cups, Mojave Sun Cup, these are common names for a plant which taxonomy attempts to quantify as Chylismia Brevipes. In areas proximate to 29 Palms, they appear after sufficient winter rains. Taxonomical value can be gleaned from spots in shades of dark red near the base of blooming petals.
Erodium cicutarium, also known as redstem filaree, redstem stork's bill, common stork's-bill or pinweed, is a herbaceous annual or in warm climates, biennial member of the family Geraniaceae.
