The green toad (Bufotes viridis) is a common species of amphibian from the toad family (Bufonidae). It is distinguished by its green color. Its range is wide (Europe, Africa and Asia). It inhabits various habitats, preferring land over water. It feeds on small invertebrates. The female lays several thousand eggs in the water reservoir, from which tadpoles hatch. Interbreeding with the common toad has been recorded. The total number is decreasing, but the animal is common throughout most of its range
