Contamination due to fallout of phosphate dust generated during loading and processing of phosphate ore is a major issue, in particular the presence of radon. The Suez Canal is an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through the Isthmus of Suez. Constructed by the Suez Canal Company between 1859 and 1869, it was officially opened on November 17, 1869.

Dakar, Senegal: Gubert Tide (IMO: 9543823), platform supply vessel (PSV) / offshore supply ship (OSS), built for logistic support and transportation of goods, tools, equipment and personnel to and from offshore oil platforms and other offshore structures. Vessels of this type are equipped with powerful machinery to withstand the adverse weather conditions that often prevail in offshore rig areas. Usually these ships have bow thrusters, as shown by the two 'propeller' markings on the bow of the Gubert Tide  - moored at the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD)

Dakar, Senegal: very high-resolution panorama of Dakar from the Atlantic ocean - the city center (Plateau district) and the port - the tallest building is the BCEAO headquarters (Central Bank of West African States) - Plateau district and port. Dakar is the country's most important economic center. The city is located on the Cape-Verde Peninsula, midway between the mouths of the Gambia and Sénégal rivers, with a large port on the Atlantic coast, protected by the limestone cliffs of the cape and by a system of breakwaters. Dakar is the westernmost city in continental Africa. The city's name originates in the Wolof word for the tamarind tree, 'dhakar'.
