Canna, or Canna lily, is rhizomatous perennial with tropical-like foliage and large flowers that resemble iris flowers, which come in shades of red, pink, orange, yellow, brown and white colors. Although canna is originally plant of tropics, most cultivars have been developed in temperate climates and are grown now in most countries of the world.

Canna. A perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Canna in the family Cannaceae, the plant can reach a height of 1.5 meters. The branches and leaves of the whole canna are green, without any variegated colors, and there is no fluff on the branches and leaves, only waxy white powder. The rhizome of canna is blocky, its branches grow in clusters above the ground, and the leaves are single leaves that grow alternately. The ovate oblong green leaves also have sheath-like petioles. The flowering and fruiting period of canna is from March to December every year.

Aphelandra aurantiaca, native to Mexico and South America, is tropical flowering plant, with bright red/orange and yellow blooms appearing upright from the bottom of each flower spike in winter. The flowers have appearance of bursting into flame above green, glossy foliage.
