The Apostolic Palace, commonly known as the Papal Palace or the Vatican Palace, is the official residence of the Pope and the administrative center of the Catholic Church. It is situated within Vatican City, an independent city-state enclave surrounded by Rome, Italy. The Apostolic Palace comprises various buildings, courtyards, and gardens, including the Papal Apartments, the Vatican Museums, the Vatican Library, and the Vatican Gardens. One of the most significant areas within the palace is the Papal Apartments, where the Pope resides. The Sistine Chapel, renowned for Michelangelo's frescoes, is also part of the Apostolic Palace. It serves as the venue for important religious ceremonies and conclaves to elect a new pope.
