Love Valley near Goreme. Mount Erciyes, Hasandagi and Golludag were active volcanoes in the geologicalpast. The lava produced by these volcanoes,  formed a layer of tufa on the plateaus. Cappadocia's geology is due to volcanic activity that gave the area its present appearance.
