The Eyes of Buddha are painted on all four sides of the harmika cube at the top of the stupa to symbolize the Buddha's wisdom seeing all things in all four cardinal directions. The nose symbol stands for Nirvana, the small circle is the 'third eye' of Buddha, symbol of spiritual awakening of knowledge and wisdom.
