Crataegus - Weißdornbeeren
Shrub or small Tree, 2-10m tall, branches usually spiny. Leaves wedge shaped, deeply 3-7 lobed. Flowers white or sometimes pinkish, 8-15mm, styles generally 1. Berry red with a mealy exterior, 8-10mm, oval in outline, containing a single Stone fruit.\nHabitat: Woodland, Shrub, Hedgerows, rough grassy Places, Heaths and Moors, Lowland and Upland. \nFlowering Season: May-June.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, except the extreme North.\n\nThe Species is known as Herbal Medicine.\n\nThis is a second bloom in autumn 2022.

The white hawthorn blossom, also known as 'may' and 'whitethorn', starts to appear at the end of April here in London. Sometimes, as here, the may blossom grows tight to the lichen-littered trunk of the hawthorn bush / tree. The Latin name for the hawthorn is (Crataegus monogyna).
