For centuries, Karaköy has brought people of many faiths together due to its port settlement. Naturally, the places of worship that every faith needs have found their place in the narrow streets of Karaköy. There are six churches in the streets between Kemeraltı Street and Mumhane Street on the sea side.\n\nAmong these churches, the Aya Panteleymon and Aya Andrea Russian Orthodox Churches draw attention with their rooftops. The green domes rising on the roofs of the buildings built in the 19th century for the accommodation of Russian pilgrims add color to the cosmopolitan image of the region.
