Stuck like a limpet' is a common English phrase, leading to the name of the limpet mine that can stick to the side of a ship. Here is a group of true limpets (Patella vulgata) with their shells stuck onto a black granite cliff rock on a beach at Cot Valley, Cornwall, England. Their range is from northern Alaska to southern California.  They feed at night eating seaweed.  They are often eaten by sea stars.
