Spiraea cantoniensis, also called Bridal-wreath Spiraea, Cape May, Double white May, May bush, and Reeve's Spiraea, is a deciduous perennial shrub typically grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. The plant can reach a height of about 2 meters, tends to be twiggy and spreading into a fountain-like form, and displays frothy clusters of white flowers along the terminal of arching branches. The bush blooms in April and May; hence the common name of May bush.

Exochorda racemosa, commonly called pearlbush or common pearlbush, is a species of the rose family and is mostly found in China and Japan. Common pearlbush is a loose, upright, early-blooming, deciduous shrub, with the flower buds resembling white pearls, hence the common name. Flowers bloom in spring (April-May) just during the cherry blossom season, each flower being 5-petaled, cup-shaped and white.

Flowers creamy-white, in dense pyramidal panicles, 3-6cm across; anthers yellowish-white. Ripe berry shiny and scarlet-red, globose.\nHabitat: Mountain woods and shady rock places, to 2050m.\nFlowering Season: April-June.\nDistribution: West Europe.
