Asbolus verrucosus (Blue Armored Desert Beetle)This species is related to the well-known Tenebrio molitor and Zophoba morio. They are robust-looking beetles with a bluish or dusty grayish color (due to a waxy coating they secrete to protect themselves from the desert sun and preserve humidity). When they get wet they acquire a blackish color (their true hue in reality). They have characteristic rough elytra. Its legs are robust and of the same color as the rest of the body. Its thorax is slightly flattened.
