![Trivento is an Italian town of 4 606 inhabitants [1] in the province of Campobasso, in Molise. It is a bishopric. The first nucleus, known as Terventum, was inhabited by the Samnites and colonized by the Romans after the Samnite wars in the third century BC. It was part of the Regio IV under the government of Augustus and in the Middle Ages, already in the sixth century, saw the construction of the primary cathedral, which would become a diocesan seat in 1076. On top of the hill near the church, the castle was built which passed into the thirteenth century to the Angevins and then to the Caldora. In 1806 it was incorporated into the district of Isernia, which would later be transformed into a province in 1970.
