Eyam, United Kingdom - January 1, 2016: In 1665 residents of these cottages succumbed to the Bubonic Plague outbreak in the Peak District village of Eyam in Derbyshire, UK. The  Bubonic plague ran its course over 14 months and one account states that it killed at least 260 villagers, with only 83 surviving out of a population of 350.

An old War Department boundary marker stone left over from World War Two on Tower Hill in the City of London. This is stone number 8 and bears the arrow mark and W.D. for the War Department. The War Department is now the Ministry of Defence.

This photograph shows the oak leaf emblem on a National Trust sign. The National Trust is an organization dedicated to the preservation / conservation of the cultural and environmental treasures of most of Britain. Much like the British Post Office, it does not use the word 'British', being referred to as The National Trust only. A more full designation is The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, and it operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. (Scotland has its own National Trust for Scotland.) Morden Hall Park in Morden, south London, belongs to The National Trust. San Carlos, East Falkland, Falkland Islands: Blue Beach Military Cemetery at San Carlos is a British war cemetery in the Falkland Islands holding the remains of 14 of the 255 British casualties killed during the Falklands War in 1982, and one other killed in early 1984.
