Australian native plants encompass a diverse array of flora uniquely adapted to the continent's varied climates and landscapes. From the iconic eucalypts towering over bushland to the vibrant blossoms of banksias and bottlebrushes dotting the coastal scrub, these plants exhibit remarkable resilience and adaptation to harsh conditions. Their foliage ranges from delicate ferns in rainforests to tough, sclerophyllous leaves in arid regions, reflecting Australia's rich botanical heritage and ecological diversity. Many native species play crucial roles in local ecosystems, providing habitat and food for native wildlife while contributing to the country's distinctive natural landscapes, from the verdant rainforests of Queensland to the expansive deserts of the Outback.

Grevillea, also known as spider flowers are shrubs, rarely small trees with simple or compound leaves arranged alternately along the branchlets. The flowers are zygomorphic and typically arranged in pairs along a sometimes branched raceme at the ends of branchlets.\n\nThere are over 350 species which are endemic to Australia. Five other species are endemic to areas outside Australia.

Fuchsia grevillea (Grevillea bipinnatifida) is a species of flowering plant in the family Proteaceae and is endemic to Australia. It is a spreading shrub, usually bipinnatifid leaves. Flowers that are arranged along a rachis are dull pink to crimson, sometimes pale green or pale orange. Flowering mainly occurs from June to December and the fruit is a woolly-hairy follicle.

Flowers and plants
Acacia baileyana, also called Cootamundra waffle, is a large evergreen shrub or small tree, adorned with a wide-spreading canopy and weeping branches, clothed in feathery, finely cut, blue-gray leaves. The foliage remains appealing all year round. In late winter to early spring, clouds of bright golden-yellow, small, rounded flowers held in axillary racemes cover the branches and create a striking floral display. As some photos show, it is a great plant for slopes and banks.\nThese photos were taken on a very windy day in spring.
