The area of the Villa Borghese includes the extension of ancient gardens the of the Borghese family since 1580, while the current arrangement of the park was completed in 1903 in neoclassical style. A splendid cityscape featuring a part of the historic center of the Etruscan and Medieval city of Perugia, a secondary city in central Italy, capital of the Umbria region. On the right, the Abbey and Basilica of San Domenico, built in 1304 in Gothic style based on a design by Giovanni Pisano and subsequently partially modified in Baroque style. Founded by the Etruscans on an ancient Umbrian settlement and subsequently conquered by the Romans, Perugia is one of the most loved and visited medieval Italian cities, rich in artistic and architectural treasures that span almost three thousand years of history. The Umbria region, considered the green heart of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the extra virgin olive oil produced in these lands.
