White nightblooming Cereus
Beautiful white lady-of-the-night flower with an intoxicating perfume and its opening occurs only at night. Photo taken at my home\nThe lady of the night is a shrub, with a semi-woody texture and much appreciated for the intoxicating aroma of its flowers. It has an erect and branched stem, with sinuous branches, at first erect, but become pendulous at the ends. The lady of the night is a vigorous and fast-growing plant, it is usually used alone, but it does well in small groups. It can be used as a tree and climbed, also by pruning and tutoring, perfuming sidewalks, patios and covering arches, arches, trellises, among other supports. To attenuate the strong perfume, it should be planted in the shade, so that its flowering is less intense. Photo taken at my home in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

With one flower on each stem, this is one of the few plants that lack chlorophyll (which makes plants green). It can live in dark forests because it needs no sunlight for photosynthesis. It survives by parasitizing certain fungi, trees and decomposing plants. Also called ghost plant.

Beautiful white lady-of-the-night flower of an intoxicating scent and its opening happens only at night. Photo made in my house\nThe lady of the night is a shrub, with a semi-woody texture and very popular due to the heady aroma of its flowers. It has an erect and branched stem, with sinuous branches, at first upright, but they become pendent at the tips. Its size is medium, usually 1.5 meters, but can reach up to 4 meters in height. Its leaves are simple, perennial, oval to lanceolate, shiny, coriaceous and supported by long petioles. The abundant inflorescences appear in the spring and summer, carrying numerous tubular flowers, of cream-greenish color, that exude an intense perfume, mainly at night. The following berries are berries, white in color, translucent. The lady of the night is a vigorous and fast growing plant, it is usually used in isolation, but looks good in small groups. It is an indispensable piece in aromatic gardens, \
