Eventually, it was bypassed by a newer bridge, and Route 66 was realigned. Despite being abandoned, the Winona Bridge retains its historical significance and charm. Somewhere way up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, a tranquil scenic view looking down at an arched steel bridge carrying a main highway overpass running high above a secondary highway concrete bridge below; which in turn is an overpass bridge crossing above a rustic railroad track right of way underpass and a twisting, rapid water river or stream. The right of way appears to run roughly parallel alongside the river as it meanders through the valley. An old, tired-looking semi tractor trailer truck looks tiny - parked way down near the train tracks at the bottom of the country road hill and unpaved dirt cul-de-sac which apparently serve as sole access to a modern looking commercial or industrial business building with a spotless metal roof, and two large storage tanks in back.
