Alexander's Hill\nHeavy with History\n\nWhen Alexander the Great approached\nSagalassos with his army in 333 BC,\nSagalassians defended their City at\n'Alexander's Hill'. At that time Sagalassos was\nalready an important settlement in Pisidia.\nThe conical hill has a flat top and three steep\nflanks. Strategically important for its location\nand height, it controlled the southern\napproach to Sagalassos. Alexander defeated\nthe Sagalassians in the battle and took their\nCity, making it part of the Hellenistic world.\n\nThere was probably never a settlement\non the hill. İn the Roman imperial period,\none of the four necropoleis (cemeteries) of\nSagalassos developed along its slopes. This\nwas the City's largest and oldest necropolis,\ncovering 15.7 hectares. On top of the hill\nthere was probably a pagan temple, replaced\nby a church in the 5th or the 6th century.\nExcavations showed that this church was\nrenovated or decorated around 1000 AD.\n\nThe latest remains on the hill date to around\n1200 AD, when a walled military garrison\nstood here. Possibly in 1204, this 'fort' seems\nto have been forcibly conquered and burned.\nIt was abandoned after this destruction.

southern tunisia.\n\nthis composition of eight slides reassembles a ksar in the sahara. don't expect a conventional 360 degree »real life« panorama - i did it my way.\n\nthe white lines where introduced to emphasise the composite character. i wanted to strenghten the strange effect when the perspective and lighting change from photo to photo. it's a bit confusing but your attention is drawn to those irritating flaws in the matrix.\n\na ksar is a village consisting of generally attached houses, widespread among the oasis populations of the Maghreb.\n\nremembering star wars? the desert planet? lukas shot in an tunisan ksar. \nhave a look, this one is BIG.\n\nhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ksar\n\n\n\n \n\n\n
