The Great Synagogue of Rome is the largest synagogue in Rome.\n\nThe present Synagogue was constructed shortly after the unification of Italy in 1870, when the Kingdom of Italy captured Rome and the Papal States ceased to exist. The Roman Ghetto was demolished and the Jews were granted citizenship. The building which had previously housed the ghetto synagogue in a single building was demolished, and the Jewish community began making plans for a new and impressive building.

Munich, Germany. The New Town Hall. A series of glass paintings were created between 1910 and 1912 by Gustav von Treeck. Founded by the Russian businessman Murdoch Abramowski, who emigrated to the United States. This one show a close-up portrait of Benjamin Franklin. When the Americans entered the war, the Nazis took the windows out and put them in a depot. They were the only ones who remained intact.
