Warsaw, Poland - August 19, 2016: In Warsaw's Powązki Military Cemetery, a memorial is dedicated to the 96 people who died in a plane crash near Smolensk, Russia, on April 10, 2010. The vicitims included Poland's President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria, the former President of Poland in exile Ryszard Kaczorowski, the chief of the Polish General Staff and other senior Polish military officers, the president of the National Bank of Poland, Polish Government officials, 18 members of the Polish Parliament, senior members of the Polish clergy and relatives of victims of the Katyn massacre. The passengers were traveling to Smolensk to mark the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre.

The National Monument Westerbork is a war memorial at the place where the railway connection from Hooghalen ended in Camp Westerbork and from where the trains left for the extermination camps in eastern Europe during the Second World War.\n\nA monument was erected in 1992 at the roll call site of the former transit camp to pay tribute to the 102,000 people from the Netherlands who were murdered by the Nazi regime. The monument consists of stones and each stone represents a victim.

Namutoni Fort at Etosha National Park in Kunene Region, Namibia. It was built in 1896 as a German police post and used as a prison for English prisoners during World War I.  Destroyed in 1904 during the Battle of Namutoni, it was rebuilt a year later and declared a monument in 1947, and restored in 1957.
