Mount Fuji, located on Honshu Island, the highest mountain in Japan, is an active stratovolcano. It is snow-capped several months a year, and is a well-known symbol of Japan.
Asagiri Plateau is located at the southwest of Mt. Fuji in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The plateau is about 800-900 meters above the sea level and is an extensive pasture with many dairy farms. The brown plant in front is Japanese silver grass.

Snowcapped Mt. Fuji, which was taken from Oshino-Hakkai, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.\nOshino-mura, a small village in Fuji Five Lakes region at the northern foot of Mt Fuji, near Lake Yamanaka, is famous for Oshino Hakkai, which consists of eight ponds. These ponds are fed by snow melt from the slopes of Mt Fuji that filters down through layers of lava, resulting in very clear and fresh water. \nIt is very popular place for tourists.
