Stoloniferous submerged perennial, except at flowering time, looking like sunken pineapple tops. Leaves in coarse rosettes, linear-lanceolate, tapered, spine-toothed, rather brittle. Flower white, 30-45mm, held just above the water surface, dioecious; male several to a cluster bu he female solitary; stamens 12; styles 6, each 2-branched.\n\n\n\n\n

Black medick is a small yellow wildflower of the clover / trefoil family of plants. This is a high magnification close up of the flowers. Besides black medick, this tiny creeping wildflower is also known as nonesuch and hop clover. It grows on nitrogen-poor soils and improves the soil by fixing nitrogen itself.

Orthosiphon aristatus, commonly called Cat’s whiskers, is a plant in Lamiaceae family, native to tropical area of Asia. It is upright trunked, used as a traditional medicinal plant. The plant owes its name (Cat’s whiskers) to its four long white to pale purple stamens, which stick out, looking like a cat’s whiskers.
