Frilled shark's specimen
fish in a row pattern
This powerful black-and-white photograph captures the stark reality of nature's cycle through the close-up of a fish skeleton. The image focuses on the head and spine, highlighting the detailed textures of the scales and bones, which are starkly contrasted against the soft, blurred background. The fish’s eye, now hollow, speaks to the absence of life, while the skeletal remains suggest a narrative of survival and the passage of time. The monochromatic palette intensifies the raw, evocative quality of the image, allowing the viewer to contemplate the fragility of life and the inevitable return to the elements.

Salmon make their way upstream. They are on a mission. They are driven to reach the end of their journey. The fish want to get to the place of their birth. This is the end of their journey, the final stage in the life cycle of a salmon. The fish have reached a roadblock and only the strongest will survive.
