Vieux Grand Port, Grand Port District, Mauritius, Mascarene Islands: Lion Mountain (Montagne du Lion) towering above Grand Port bay, with sugarcane fields on the foothills and mangroves along the coast. At 480 meters, it is the second highest peak in the Grand Port Range, is one of the most popular hiking destinations on the island for locals and tourists. On the lower left corner of the image is the monument marking the first Dutch landing, in 1598 by a fleet under Admiral Van Warwyck, a mere 91 years after Portuguese sailors came to the uninhabited island and established a visiting base, the discovery is attributed to the navigator Diogo Fernandes Pereira from Setubal.

Guadeloupe is a French island in the Caribbean with magnificent beaches, a tropical forest and a volcano.\nDeshaies is a small town on the Northwestern shore of Basse-Terre, where nice beaches are located.
Grande Comore / Ngazidja, Comoros islands: view from above the north coast with the Ouemani / Wemani crater in the foreground and at the top, Mount Karthala (2361m), a very active  shield volcano, the highest point in Comoro Islands, and one of the largest craters in the world. Multiple cinder cones in between. Grande Comore is geologically the youngest island in the archipelago. Agriculture is hardly possible there because of lave fields and the lack of fresh water sources. Coelacanths live on the island's sea slopes, for which a marine reserve has been created with the Zone du Coelacanthe .
