Lysimachia thyrsiflora (Tufted Loosestrife) Native North American Wetland Wildflower
Two specimens of the endemic Cruckshanksia montiana (which has no English or local Spanish name) growing in coastal sand-dunes in the southern Atacama Desert region of Chile. Confined to Chile, this species can exist with very little water although, in years when the desert receives rain, Cruckshanksia will comprise some of the ‘flowering desert’ flora that happens particularly when there is an El Niño warming of the nearshore Pacific Ocean. This species has vivid yellow flowers surrounded by larger, equally yellow sepals, presumably to attract pollinators, while the regular green leaves grow close to the sand.

Hebe Masoniae (a subspecies of Hebe Pauciramosa from the in the Plantaginaceae family) in bloom. This Hebe is endemic from the alpine regions  of the North West Nelson & Tasman District in the of the South Island of New Zealand. This is a dwarf species of the Hebe Bush.

Hairless, short to medium perennial; stems erect, square and hollow, with a creeping and rooting base. Leaf linear to lanceolate, opposite toothed or almost untoothed, half clasping the stem; with translucent gland-dots. Flowers white , veined and tinged with purplish-red. 10-18mm, tubular 2 lipped, the lower lip 3-lobed, borne in leafy racemes.\nHabitat: Wet places, meadows, marshes, river and stream banks, ditches.\nFlowering Season: May-October.\nDistribution: Belgium, Holland, France and Germany. From W and C Europe to W Asia.\n\nThis is a rare Species in the Netherlands. The Picture is made in my Garden Pond.\nThe Plant is Poisonous but in the past used as Herbal Medicine.
