Differential grasshopper (Melanoplus differentialis) on corn husk in afternoon sunlight, late summer/early fall. Though a native North American species, people call it a pest because it can greatly damage crops. Others admire its adaptability. Still others point out that it feeds birds and other wildlife when its numbers rise. Taken in a Connecticut cornfield.

One of the most familiar, widespread and abundant Damselflies in Europe, well known from eutrophic habitats and garden ponds.\nField characters: Total 30-34mm, Abdomen 22-29mm, Hindwing14-21mm.\nHabitat: Abundant at running and especially standing waters; tolerant of some salinity but avoids acid habitats such as Spagnum bogs.\nFlight Season: Late April to Late September in Central and North Europe, normally with only one Generation.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe (Ireland to Japan).\n\nThis is a Common Species in the Netherlands in the described Habitats.

Adult Damselfly Insect of the Suborder Zygoptera
Tot 39-48mm, Ab. 22-31mm, Hw 32-38mm.\nGeneral: A large, pale blue male of this species, aggressively defending a garden pond or small natural pool, is a familiar sight in much of our area.\nThe abdomen shape and four large black areas at the wing bases instantly distinguish this species.\nHabitat: A wide range of mostly stagnant waters, especially favouring those that are small, shallow, sunny and bare, such as cattle drinking pools or quarry lakes.\nFlight Season: From late April to mid September, most abundant in May and June.\nDistribution: Among the commonest species in much of Europe, extended to central Asia. A strong flier that is often the first species to claim newly created or cleared habitats.\n\nThis is a quite common Species in the Netherlands in the described Habitats.

Enallagma cyathigerum (common blue damselfly, common bluet, or northern bluet) is a species found mainly between latitudes 40°N and 72°N. It is widely distributed in the Palearctic, and the Nearctic species Enallagma annexum was at one time considered to be synonymous with it. The species can reach a length of 32 to 35 mm (1.3 to 1.4 in). It is common in many different countries including Russia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the United States of America, and South Korea. Damselflies are an important link between the health of the aquatic ecosystem and its response to climate change.

Leptura quadrifasciata, the spotted longhorn beetle, is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Carl Linnaeus in his landmark 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae. \nAdult beetles are 11–20 mm long, black with four more or less continuous transverse yellow bands. In extreme cases the elytra may be almost entirely black. It is found throughout the Northern and Central Palaearctic region. \nLarvae make meandering galleries in various trees, including oak, beech, birch, willow, alder, elder and spruce. The life cycle lasts two or three years.\nThe adults are very common flower-visitors, especially Apiaceae species, feeding on pollen and the nectar (source Wikipedia). \n\nThis is a common Species in the Netherlands on the described Habitats.
