Rome, Italy, March 19 -- An impressive and detailed cityscape of the entire Trajan's Market Forum in the Roman Imperials Forums, in the historic heart of the Eternal City. The Trajan's Markets were built along the side of the Quirinale hill during the reign of the Emperor Trajan (53-117 AD). Considered the oldest commercial center in the world, the arcades and masonry structures of the Trajan's Markets also housed some administrative offices of ancient Rome. In the Middle Ages the markets were converted into military bastions and barracks, with the construction of the Watchtower in 1200 (center). The Roman Forum, one of the largest archaeological areas in the world, represented the political, legal, religious and economic center of the city of Rome, as well as the nerve center of the entire Roman civilization. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in original 65x24 ratio and high definition quality.
