The world's second largest old shipwreck area is located in the coastal area of Sitakunda in Chittagong district of Bangladesh. Sitakund is 18 km from Faujdar Hat on the coast. spread across the area. Old imported ships are being broken up at a yard in Sitakund Shitalpur area on May 21,2023.\nWith more than 100,000 yards, employing more than two lakh people and supplying half of the country's total steel, it is known as the world's largest shipbreaking industrial zone. Bangladesh Shipbreakers Association or BSBA claims that these workshops for breaking ships in Sitakundu are the largest open-air workshops in the world.
