Kennedy (“the JFK”) at the NAVSEA Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. \n\nThe JFK was originally intended to be nuclear-powered, but it was converted to conventional steam boilers some time after construction had started. It was supposed to be a Kitty Hawk-class carrier, but there were so many modifications, that it became a class of its own, and there were none like it afterwards. \n\nThe JFK was in commission from September 1968 to August 2007. It has recently been sold to a scrapyard for one dollar, but as of January 2024, it is still at the Navy Yard in Philly.
