$Very variable medium to tall, tufted, hairy perennial, slightly aromatic, with erect, branched stems, rather glandular above. Leaves oval to oblong with a heart-shaped base, somewhat wrinkled, deep green, the lowermost long-stalked, the upper smaller and unstalked. Flowers violet-blue, occasionally pink or white, large, 20-30mm long, in whorls of 4-6, the upper lip markedly curved; bracts green, half the length of the calyx.\nHabitat: Meadows and grassy places on calcareous soils, occasionally in waste places, to 1900m.\nFlowering Season: June-July.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe to W Asia.\n\nThis Picture is made during a long weekend in the Eifel (Germany) in June 2019.$
