Rome, Italy - The colossal landmark on Piazza Venezia, called the Altare della Patria Built in honour of the King Victor Emanuel II the first king of unified Italy. It is also dicated to the Unknown soldier. Astride on horseback is King Victor Emanuel. It is said that after the foundrymen set up the statue, some of them had a celebration party inside the belly of the horse. The equestrian monument of Giuseppe Garibaldi, hero of the Unification and Independence of Italy during the wars of the nineteenth century, on top of the gardens of the Janiculum hill. From this hill, located on the right bank of the Tiber river, it is possible to admire a series of spectacular views over the historic center of Rome and the famous Trastevere district, up to the central Appenine mountains.
